Adriana
Artmeier

Adriana Antonia Artmeier, originally from Germany, moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2016, drawn by the intrigue of its unique, sometimes dangerous wildlife. Her journey in art began early, nurtured by her grandmother, an artist herself. When her grandmother passed away in the early 2000s, Adriana took a break from art, but as she grew older, the passion returned.

Initially, Adriana focused on drawing portraits of her favorite idols, using graphite pencils. Over time, she expanded her skill set to include charcoal and colored pencils. In 2017, with encouragement from a close friend, Adriana discovered a deep love for painting. She began with portraits of pets and people before gaining the confidence to explore new creative territories.

While she always had an interest in surrealism, especially darker themes, Adriana initially hesitated, unsure if her skills could match her vision. However, she eventually took the leap, allowing her own ideas to take shape in her work. Her art now blends fine portraits and landscapes with elements of surrealism, offering a rich variety of styles and themes.

Today, Adriana’s art practice is deeply focused on environmental issues, particularly ocean conservation and mental health. Her work often features marine life, with sharks being a prominent subject in many of her recent pieces. Through her art, she aims to highlight the importance of protecting our planet and the creatures that inhabit it, reflecting her commitment to both creative expression and global awareness.
