Nilraya is a Thai-born artist based in Melbourne who works primarily with embroidery, creating each piece entirely by hand and stitching every detail one by one with patience and dedication. Her practice is deeply labor-intensive, reflecting countless hours of careful sewing and quiet focus..

Her interest in textiles began in childhood, inspired by watching family members sew, which sparked a lasting passion for making art through fabric and thread. Fond memories of simple, everyday interiors from friends’ homes in different neighborhoods continue to influence her work today. These warm, nostalgic scenes have evolved into an ongoing series, with each piece lovingly crafted and rooted in personal memory and lived experience.
