Debra J. Marshall is a visual artist living and working on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung country in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia

My art practice is grounded within the investigation and exploration of landscape. As an ex-dancer, for me, the drawn line reflects bodily movement through the environment. I generally work in site-responsive ways, so my methodology is a mixture of on-site sketching and reference photography taken back to the studio for further investigation. The line of the pencil, pen or paintbrush help me progressively discover the tapestry of the landscape, and how I am situated within it.
