Basilisk
Basilisk is a digital durational performance. Using photogrammetry and 3D modelling to create a digital avatar of the artist. Performance actions are completely devised by AI utilising a self-coded story generator. The performance is documented through motion capture and presented as a short video work. The work explores emergent digital aesthetics, social control via technology and the relationship between humans and AI. The piece draws from infamous thought experiment Rook’s Basilisk as a departure point to speculate on the future of performance and digital art practices.
