‘NO CHURCH IN THE WILD’
Melbourne born and bred, my art practise is used as a refuge to help quieten the mind and used as a catalyst to spark emotion, feeling and perhaps a voice that may not feel heard. The grittiness within the images is to remind the viewer that many things of beauty may not be picture perfect, but they’re worth the picture still.
In my second exhibition I am influenced by urban stencil art, with the difference being that all my pieces are painted by hand without the use of a stencil. Another influence being music, with five of my eight pieces being named from songs or simply a lyric that resonates. The subject for this exhibition is corruption within the Catholic church.
It is important for the viewer to understand that this is in no way an attack on faith or religion, which are deeply personal choices to many, but rather a personal view on greed, fear mongering, and most important to me the cover up of widespread paedophilia within the organisation throughout history.
This exhibit and journey through my mind is not intended to spark controversary. As previously stated, it aims to evoke emotion and respectful conversation.
