Exhibition Dates : 29 July - 10 August 2025
Opening Reception : Wed 30 July 2025, 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Lea Rose, Naarm based emerging artist and current PhD graduate researcher, University of Melbourne, Faculty of Science (Human Geography, Fine Art, Indigenous Knowledge Institute), presents Plant Wombs. Through Rose’s printmaking, painting, film and installations, the potentiality for environmental recovery is explored by posing questions around land use and conservation in the Australian context. Rose seeks to inspire a sense of reverence for the resilience of the natural world and invites the viewer to engage with the importance of addressing ecological injustices.
Rose is the founder of the art therapy program Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and international author ‘Finding Peace with Death and Dying in Everyday Life’. Rose’s occupational history led to discovery that art could be therapy, and the natural environment a place of healing, worth protecting. Rose’s work is held in private collections, Australia, UK, USA, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Sweden, Russia, Malaysia, India, Singapore, China and First Nations Peoples Australia.
