Shingal lies in ruins. In the wake of ISIS’s brutal conquest, the Yazidis of Shengal have been killed, enslaved, or driven into sprawling displacement camps where time seems to stand still. Inside the camps, every tent holds a story suspended between past and future, daughters taken, fathers buried, children waking from nightmares that never fully end. As families wait for the chance to return home, they grapple with grief, memory, and the fragile hope of rebuilding what was destroyed. This is a portrait of a people caught between survival and return, where death is not only remembered, but felt, lingering like a shadow over every day.
