UNCERTAIN CONTOURS OF IMAGES

"Uncertain Contours of Images," a solo exhibition Sayoko Suwabe, which challenges traditional perceptions of art in a digitally saturated world. Suwabe argues that paintings are not static entities, but dynamic products of image processing and interpretation, their essence is in evolving with emotions, ideas, and memories. The exhibition explores the interplay between materiality and immateriality in paintings, considering their physical existence alongside digital forms. Her installation consists of performances, paintings, videos, immersing viewers in a contemplation of art's fluidity within consciousness, blurring reality and imagination. The works are created during the residency program at Bundanon and BigCi in NSW.

By challenging preconceived notions and encouraging active engagement, it seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for paintings’ transient and ever-evolving nature in an increasingly digital world.

This exhibit will be held with support from the Nomura Art Foundation and the Pola Art Foundation.
