Lucy Allnutt is an artist to whom art is a tonic and meditation. “The Sum Of its parts” realises a long time ambition to host an exhibition of works. This goal has been realised to the theme of hand studies. The breadth and potential for the theme is overwhelming as hands are our own crucial and most personal tools, so essential our daily lives.
In exploring this theme, Lucy has considered skin, tendon and bone, size and gender, colour, uses, work rest and play, decoration, clothing, fashion and emotion to bring the series together in a diverse and explorative way. The artworks deliver to the viewer an eclectic and thoughtful collection for the deeper contemplation of these humble tools in our lives.
As diverse as the subject matter, the studies have been created using various media including oil paint, pencil, gouache, pastel and charcoal. Please enjoy the manifestations of the humble hand within “The sum of its parts.”
