Slender Hands Hold Broken Flowers

Slender Hands Hold Broken Flowers began without a plan. The paintings emerged from fragments of memory that continued to resurface; childhood summers, above-ground pools, empty afternoons and moments that seemed insignificant at the time.

As the work developed, I became less interested in describing those memories and more interested in reconstructing their emotional residue. The vessel-like forms that appear throughout the series act as containers for memory, absence and invention. Fragments surface, dissolve and reappear. Meaning remains deliberately unstable.

These paintings sit between structure and collapse, tenderness and unease. They are less concerned with what happened than with what remains; the traces, distortions and half-remembered shapes that continue to occupy space long after the original moment has passed.
