Megan Kamei is an emerging artist living and working in Narrm, Australia. Her practice revolves around inner curiosity, play, sensory experiences and a focus on upcycled materials to highlight consumption tendencies. ‘Purple Planets’ 2023 explores her current interest in soft sculpture objects and increasing textile waste on the planet. These organic shaped sculptures are an accumulation of gathered, found and gifted fabrics that bring together a multitude of histories and memories. These forms reflect Kamei’s current state of mind - a purple zone of concern, hope, reflection, time and mindfulness.
