Boonyarith, Paul, a Melbourne-based practice artist, presents a new exhibition marking the artist’s final project before departing from this place. Bringing together selected works from previous exhibitions alongside a new body of paintings, the presentation reflects an ongoing investigation into how beauty, symbolism, and psychological meaning are constructed through the encounter of objects.

The new works extend his signature practice of juxtaposing classical sculptures with fresh fruits and flowers. Roman, Greek, and mythological figures—long associated with ideals of perfection and the notion of immortal beauty—are placed against vivid organic forms whose lifespan is fleeting. This contrast creates a dialogue between permanence and perishability, the ideal and the visceral, cultural memory and sensory immediacy.

Rather than offering definitive interpretations, the paintings function as triggers, inviting viewers to consider how meaning arises from unexpected visual pairings. The classical object becomes estranged from its original context, while the fruit or flower becomes charged with symbolic potential. Through this interplay, the works challenge traditional hierarchies of beauty and open a space for individual psychological projection.

Presented at a moment of transition, the exhibition is not a retrospective closing but a bridge toward new directions. It positions the act of looking as an open inquiry—one that continues beyond the artist’s time in this place.
