Ajith Perera is a Canberra-based artist whose practice explores the subconscious through intricate, expressive and evocative drawings. His work serves as a deeply personal medium for communicating thoughts, feelings, fears and desires that are often difficult to articulate through words.
Influenced by Surrealism and the mysterious dimensions of human psychology, Perera approaches drawing as an intuitive process of discovery. Through spontaneous marks, intricate details and imaginative imagery, he allows inner experiences to emerge organically onto paper. His compositions often balance the familiar with the strange, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and consider the hidden complexities of the human mind.
Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Perera leaves room for personal interpretation, encouraging each viewer to connect with the work through their own memories, emotions and experiences. His drawings transform private reflections into visual expressions that resonate with broader human experiences, creating opportunities for emotional connection, introspection and self-discovery.
