“Tar and Tears”

Hailing from Melbourne, Ayden and Rachael form a creative duo melding abstract expressionism and ceramics. Ayden, a seasoned artist with a background in creative direction, infuses paint and found objects into evocative pieces. Rachael, a skilled ceramic technician, contributes her mas- tery to the assisting and making of handmade ceramics. Both delve into shared themes, escaping closed-minded environments, grappling with identity and sexuality, and the weight of relation- ships and loss. Their collaborative work weaves narratives of suppressed authenticity and resil- iency, unraveling the impact of societal norms. Ayden and Rachael’s artistic fusion presents a poi- gnant exploration of self-discovery, echoing universal experiences. Their art beckons viewers to embark on their own introspective quests while finding solace in the intricacies of human expres- sion.

“Tar and Tears” was born from shared struggles, the sculpture embodies the intangible burdens of youth. A haunting amalgamation, it feeds on past pain—the artist’s unspoken grief, societal confines, and bruised innocence. Crafted with empathy, the creature beckons us to confront our shadows, revealing the power of resilience amidst fractured memories.”
