My work is inspired by dreams and waking visions, encounters on the train, talking to birds and everyday adventures. I believe everything in life can be contained in a single interaction, it just requires space, play, the presence of mind, the willingness to be messy and some good luck to be seen. I’m currently working on a solo show 22 Paintings: An Exploration of the Astral Plane.

To me - the astral plane is a non-material place that is affected and affects our own physical world. I play with these energies and ideas with the hope of understanding and trusting the mystery in all its wondrousness. If you would like proof of the astral plane, please find me and I will no doubt have a story of something very strange that just happened the other day.

Sarah Irene Robinson is an artist who grew up in the Dandenong Ranges and is currently based in Northcote. Her work combines local sites, streets and houses with visions, dreams, whispers from the dead and glimpses at the unknown. She is currently working on a solo show 22 Paintings: An Exploration of the Astral Plane. The painting Make More Mistakes, featured at Sol Gallery is from this collection and was inspired by a lingering vision from room 608 in the Savoy Hotel on Little Collins.
